Unmanned aerial vehicles are becoming one of the key elements of modern security systems. Their ability to respond instantly, operate in demanding environments and perform tasks without endangering people means that they are increasingly being used in both defence and civil operations.
Last week, we had the opportunity to discuss the topic with a group of experts during a meeting at Łukasiewicz – WIT with Tomasz Darmoliński, President of the |Żelazny Foundation for National Security and Defence|. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Institute, prof. Grzegorz Gudzbeler, PhD, Deputy Director for Research, Dominik Kukla, PhD, and Head of the Property Security Laboratory, Bartosz Saramak.
We discussed the directions of development of unmanned platforms, including the use of advanced composite materials and increasing the resistance of structures to extreme conditions. Other important topics of discussion included operator training standards in Poland, neutralising threats posed by drones in conflict situations, as well as regulatory and institutional issues affecting this area of technology.
We would like to thank the President of the Foundation for his visit and for sharing his experiences. We hope that the discussions we have begun will translate into concrete actions to strengthen the national security system.
