Surface layers for aviation, chemistry, energy

ABSTRACT

The project entitled “Expanding the research potential of Łukasiewicz-WIT in the field of manufacturing, characterization and quality control of surface layers for the needs of the aviation, chemical and energy industries” involves the creation of a modern and innovative research and development base at Łukasiewicz-WIT.

The scope of the investment includes:

– systems for plasma spraying of ceramic, cermet and metal alloy coatings and, in the long term, for producing coatings from high-entropy metal alloys (including nuclear power),

– a stand for induction heating technology on a scale enabling the implementation of entrepreneurs’ orders, as well as in the long term, coupling with plasma spraying technologies to modify the structure and properties of coatings made of high-entropy alloys,

– extension of the functionality of currently used surface characterization methods with the purchase of a new device for profile analysis of the chemical composition of surface layers,

– defectoscopic system for quality control of produced layers and coatings.

The scope of the investment includes the purchase of:

– automated high-power induction heater,

– mobile workshop crane,

– laboratory vacuum furnace,

– equipment for the station for making exciters,

– software for designing the induction heating process,

– ion thinners and polishers,

– chemical composition analyzer using the GDOES method,

– automatic high-power precision cutter,

– expansion of the X-ray diffractometer,

– retrofitting of the Raman spectroscope,

– cylindrical grinders,

– advanced device for non-destructive testing using the eddy current method,

– complete plasma spraying system.
