Reliable analysis and clear classification criteria play an important role both in the law-making process and in the development and evaluation of technical solutions.
On 12 February, our expert Bartosz Saramak, Head of the Property Security Laboratory at Łukasiewicz – Warsaw Institute of Technology, participated in a meeting of the Parliamentary Team for Firearms Ownership. During the meeting, he raised the issue of the technical and legal classification of silencers and multifunctional muzzle devices used in firearms.
The team members discussed the presence of silencers in special trade and the rules governing their availability on the civilian market in the context of applicable regulations, in particular the provisions of the Weapons and Ammunition Act and the Licensed Trade Act. They analysed the differences between individual solutions, their technical parameters, and the legal consequences resulting from the adopted interpretation and classification.
The meeting was attended by parliamentarians representing various political circles,
as well as representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the National Police Headquarters, the Polish Hunting Association and the Polish Sport Shooting Association, as well as representatives of the business sector and trade media.
Our representative’s participation in the team’s work is an example of our commitment to providing substantive support for the legislative process and building high standards in the area of national security and defence. Expert technical knowledge, openness
to dialogue and a responsible approach to legal regulations allow us to create effective and sustainable systemic solutions.
