Safety in the construction sector is a process that begins long before the first work on site. It is based on knowledge, clearly defined standards and the shared responsibility of the entire industry for working conditions and the quality of completed projects. Łukasiewicz – Warsaw Institute of Technology has been involved in activities promoting safe work on construction sites for many years.

On 12 February 2026, a General Meeting of Signatories to the Agreement for Safety in Construction was held – an event setting out the directions for action to improve work safety standards in the construction industry.

During the meeting, the Director of the Institute, dr Grzegorz Gudzbeler, drew particular attention to the role of machine and equipment operators’ competences in creating a safe working environment. Proper training and awareness of hazards are key elements in reducing risk on construction sites.

The presentation also provided an opportunity to showcase the Institute’s contribution to the development of modern technologies for the construction industry in Poland – from material research and analysis, through support for assessment and certification processes, to solutions that increase the durability, reliability and safety of infrastructure.

Cooperation between many groups involved in the construction sector enables the development of a sustainable safety culture for employees and investments.
